Stacey Torres is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at UCSF, core faculty in the sociology doctoral program, and affiliated with UC Berkeley’s Institute for the Study of Societal Issues. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor at the University at Albany, SUNY, and a UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley. She holds a PhD in sociology from NYU, a BA in comparative literature from Fordham, and an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia. Her book, At Home in the City: Growing Old in Urban America (UC Press, 2025), explores aging in a gentrified NYC neighborhood, with related research published in top sociology and gerontology journals.
